Graduating from Auckland University in 1995 Lester gained experience post graduation with several practices predominantly in the design and documentation of one off houses for private clients.
In 1999 a move to Dublin lead to experience as a Project Architect and Team Leader working on the Park West business park development. The business park consisted of predominately office buildings but included a facilities center of cafes and shops and a gymnasium. Park West was awarded an Opus Building of the year award in the year 2000.
In 2003 a move to Galway lead to a role as Project Architect and Contract Administrator for the Tara Hotel, Killybegs as well as the design of mixed use and commercial schemes in Dublin, and Clare. Work in Galway included design, construction documentation and site supervision of several Galway housing developments.
In April 2007 Lester began practice as Lester Naughton Architect with a return largely to new private housing and individual house extensions.
